Trips and Summer Camp

Troop 137 averages one trip per month. Generally trips leave Friday Night or Saturday Morning returning Sunday Afternoon. Trips include ski trips to the Pocono Mountains, hiking trips on the Appalachian Trail, horseback riding, white water rafting, and several others.

It is the Scouts responsibility to tell parents about upcoming trips and required equipment. It is not unusual to learn specific details. It is important to the Troop that all Scouts going on the trip be available for the entire trip. It is important all Scouts learn how to pack and how to breakdown from the trip. For this reason we urge the Scout to commit to the entire trip.

The year always ends with summer camp. Summer camp may be at Ockanickon or any other Scout Reservation. This is a full week and an excellent opportunity for the Scouts to earn Merit Badges. At summer camp the Scouts are exposed to merit badge conselors not otherwise available.
