Thursday
night we gather for our Court of Honor to recognize what our Scouts have
accomplished during the past months. Our
year was full of activities and progress and growth for all of our Scouts. Certainly, our adult volunteers are directly
responsible for the quality of our program and without them there would be no
Troop 137. It is also true that Washington
Crossing Council stands behind and supports our Scouts and volunteers. While we rarely get to see the Council in action,
it is vitally important to our success as a Troop. The Council trains our volunteers, provides
our great summer camp, Ockanickon, provides a professional staff to work with
our volunteers and to keep all of the records necessary to our operations, provides
the insurance that makes our activities possible, plans seasonal activities to
fill out and balance our program and provides the legal basis for our very
existence. All that costs money, and
without it Bucks County Council cannot survive and so neither would our Troop
survive, without Bucks County Council.
The Council spends $150 for every Cub Scout and Boy Scout in the Council
and that money comes mostly from parents.
Thursday evening, please be generous when our Friends of Scouting
volunteer, Michael Goodwin, an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 133 in Chalfont,
asks for our financial support for Washington Crossing Council for another
great year. Please be as generous as you
can be. Fred Gamache Troop Committee Chair |
