Scouts/Parents...

Just a few reminders...

1) Our next camping trip is October 14-16 at Hawk Mountain.  We will be staying at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation, we'll be doing a hike, checking out the aviary, and of course stopping at Cabellas.  The cost for the trip is $25/scout plus food.  We would like to have a final count and payment by next Thursday'smeeting, October 6th.

2) We have a service project coming up on Saturday October 8th.  We will be cleaning out our storage area in the rectory basement and loading/reorganizing the trailer.  We will be meeting at the rectory at 8 and going until we're done, hopefully by noon or 1.  Boys can come late or leave early as needed.  Please let us know for sure at next week's meeting, or email me ahead of time.

3) Popcorn sales are progressing.  We have lots of available slots open for booths.  Please go on the sign up genius to sign up for slots.

4) The boys should have come home last night with wreath sale paperwork.  They have about a month to do sales, and we will have some booths available coming up as well.  I'll send the link when they're ready to sign up.

A note about the popcorn and wreath sales...the troop makes no money on these.  We organize and run these fundraisers to allow the boys and their families to accrue money in their scout accounts which can be used for any camping trips or scout events, or to be reimbursed for some scout store purchases.  We have boys every year who end up paying for summer camp and all their other trips with money from popcorn, wreaths and Joe Corbi.

Upcoming, we have a fun trip planned for November.  We will be camping at Towhee, one of the county parks.  We'll go up Friday as usual, set up tents and sleep.  On Saturday after breakfast and cleanup the boys will build shelters which they'll sleep in that night.  They can group together and combine forces to build bigger/nicer shelters.  This should be a lot of fun
